Day one

We begin the day with by gathering at Moss Motors in Goleta for a continental breakfast, meet and greet, pass out gift bags and a short drivers meeting. We will set out in groups for the Santa Barbara foothills. We climb to the Camino Cielo (Road in the Sky) through the California chaparral winding our way past scenic vistas. We will continue through San Marcos Pass and to Lake Cachuma to historic Solvang for a tour of the motorcycle museum and/or a visit to one of the many attractions of this little ‘Danish’ village. 

Our tour will continue through Buellton, past the famous Flag is Up ranch (home of the real horse whisperer, Monty Roberts) and Pea Soup Anderson’s through coastal valleys, past rustic ranches and picturesque farms to the flower capital of the world, Lompoc. We then turn inland for a gourmet lunch at in the old western town of Los Alamos. 

After lunch, our tour continues along tree shaded country roads to the heart of Santa Barbara wine country where we will enjoy wine tasting at Foxen winery (featured in the film Sideways) and Kenneth Volk Vineyards, owned and operated by Central Coast wine pioneer Ken Volk.

We will then proceed back to the coast through the farms of northern Santa Barbara County and the fertile strawberry fields of Arroyo Grande to California’s historic coastal highway route one. 

We will arrive in one of the last classic beach towns in California, beautiful Pismo Beach and our accommodations at Shore Cliffs resort. After a brief pause to freshen up ourselves and the cars, we adjourn to an authentic Mexican dinner at British Sports Car in San Luis Obispo. Sponsors Peter and Justin Jurgens have graciously opened their restoration and service facility. After dinner free time to enjoy the many attractions beautiful San Luis Obispo has to offer.


Day two

Early morning reveille, continental breakfast and drivers meeting then the group heads up the coast to sleepy Cayucos. We turn inland through avocado orchards, cattle ranches and oak forest. The route will look familiar to many as many auto photo shoots and commercials are filmed here. As we proceed inland we travel through the heart of the Paso Robles westside wine appellation. Take notes for future visits and your hosts are happy to make recommendations.

We proceed through cattle country to the town of Parkfield, situated on the San Andres Fault and have lunch at the authentic Parkfield Café. There is no time to dally though as we head through open range to the Linne Valley and wine tasting at award winning Cass Winery and Sculpterra Winery where we will wind down in the fantastic sculpture garden. We will arrange barrel tasting and interaction with the owners of these independent family owned "back roads" wineries. We will then make the short trip to Paso Robles where we will be welcomed at the Paso Robles Inn, a landmark since the 1800’s where you can enjoy the beautiful gardens and this historic hotel. There will be a wash station for the cars and time for a shower and cocktails then we enjoy a classic Santa Maria barbeque with wine.

Dinner will be at Smith Motors facility in Paso Robles where we can relax and admire the many fine autos and host Brent Smith will regale us with stories of his racing exploits. We will no host evening at the Cowboy Bar with photos, videos and unabashed lies about the event so far in the Paso Robles Inn or you can walk through the down town of historic Paso Robles enjoying the town square or one of the many restaurants, bars and shops.


Day three

Sleep in late today, late (8-9 am) breakfast and drivers meeting. The hardy will head east on Highway 46 to Cambria where we will drive California Route 1, the coastal highway, past the sea lion refuge in San Simeon (yes we can stop if the majority want to) and catch a glimpse of Hearst Castle as we proceed toward Big Sur. The striking coastal scenery and unparalleled beauty of this iconic route are indescribable. We will climb the coastal mountains and plunge into the forest as we wind our way to the open vistas of Fort Hunter-Liggett where we will visit Mission San Antonio, one of the most authentically preserved of the California missions. From this point we travel some of the best kept secrets of the central coast, the back roads of southern Monterey County to picturesque San Miguel where we will visit the newly refurbished Mission San Miguel.

We will then take the short jaunt to the Paso Robles Warbirds Museum and Woodland Auto Display where we will be the guests of the Estrella Warbirds and can wander among the planes and historic autos until brunch is served. A champagne toast and hasta la vista until secondo grupo meets next year!

Those that seek a more leisurely activity (translation: are sick of the driving) can enjoy the pleasures of a Spa day. Transportation to and from the Spa will be arranged but additional charges for the spa itself will apply
